Edward Chaytor

Musical Director

Edward “Ed” Chaytor came to St. Paul’s as Musical Director in January 1997. Ed’s love of music began at an early age. His first public performance was at the age of 5 when he played piano at his Kindergarten Graduation. Ed began private organ lessons at St. Mary’s Anglican Church around 1990. In 1994, Ed was accepted into MUN School of Music as an organ major and studied there until 1998. While studying at MUN, he acted as fill-in Organist at various churches around the city, including St. Paul’s, prior to being hired as Musical Director here. Ed also plays the Oboe and English Horn. He has been a member of the Gower Youth Band, the CLB Avalon Battalion Band, and most recently the Gower Community Band. After studying music for four years, Ed decided on a career change and went on to study Business Administration, Bookkeeping and Accounting. Besides working here as Music Director, Ed is also employed full-time as a Payroll Clerk.
